Deschamps welcomes more France goals as team averages ‘just 2 goals’ per match
Deschamps welcomed the final score, noting his team usually scores just two goals per match.
The French boss acknowledges Mateta and Akliouche’s heroics, particularly the former’s opening goal.
“We average a little over two goals per match, which is very good,” Deschamps said.
“Mateta was making only his second ever start, and he scored a lovely header. So that’s great for us and for him,” he added.

Deschamps praised the recent play of Hugo Ekitike, whose potential can further grow as they prepare for the main World Cup tournament next year.
“Ekitike is gaining confidence too,” the French boss said.
“He’s a young player with lots of dynamism, and he was able to express himself with his stamina to get around the pitch as well as his ability to penetrate with his speed,” he added.
