Ghana football legend Stephen Appiah on Thursday is “very convinced” that the Black Stars are capable of reaching the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Furthermore, the 44-year-old former midfielder cited Ghana’s past few performances in the qualifiers.

The Ghana football legend lauded the team’s new players that led to the Black Stars’ resurgence.
Furthermore, the former Ghanaian national men’s team captain was impressed in the Black Stars’ 5-0 rout of Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Moreover, he also praised Ghana’s resolve in their 3-0 victory over Madagascar in Morocco.
This enabled them to top Group I with 15 points in the African qualifiers
Appiah also made his observation based on “the Unity Cup that we played in the UK against Nigeria and Trinidad.”
“It has given me a lot of hope because the new players who came showed themselves well,” he added.

APPIAH NOTES ‘CALCULATIONS’ MAKE HIM BELIEVE BLACK STARS CAN MAKE IT
Appiah noted that his “calculations” made him believe that the Black Stars will play in the global football showcase.
Moreover, the former Juventus and Fenerbahce star remained positive on the Black Stars’ four upcoming matches in the qualifiers.
Furthermore, he is pushing the team to play harder at the resumption of the qualifiers in September against Chad and Mali.
“When you do the calculations, nothing tells me that we are not going to qualify,” Appiah said.
Ghana is also scheduled to face Comoros and the Central African Republic in October.
ACCRA SPORTS STADIUM TO GET IMPROVEMENTS AHEAD OF BLACK STARS’ QUALIFYING MATCHES: OFFICIAL
The Accra Sports Stadium, an official said on Thursday, will get improvements before Ghana’s next qualifying matches.
Furthermore, Ghana’s National Sports Authority (NSA) deputy director general Gideon Hammond spoke ahead of the Black Stars’ qualifying matches.
Moreover, he told Citi Sports that the stadium should meet international standards.
“In preparing for the Chad game, one key thing that coach Otto Addo mentioned was that we need to maintain the floodlights on,” Hammond said.
“We need to keep the pitch in good shape. And he was mentioning it because he realised that the quality of the pitch also contributes to the performance of the team,” he added.
